Congratulations 2026 CCSD Reading Bowl Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2026 Cherokee County School District Reading Bowl!

The annual event for students in grades 4-12 is a timed competition to encourage reading, develop reading comprehension skills, and offer a fun extra-curricular academic opportunity.  Indian Knoll Elementary School earned first place in the elementary school competition, with Little River ES placing second and Arnold Mill ES winning third.  E.T. Booth Middle School, for the fifth consecutive year, won first place in the middle school division, with Creekland MS earning second and Dean Rusk MS placing third.  Congratulations to our students and coaches and thank you to our School Board for its laser focus on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

The Indian Knoll ES team, coached by media specialist Jennifer Lewis and teachers Kim Brown, Allison Eubanks, Dr. Peggy Rein, is made up of Oliver Boggs, Emma Figueredo, Robert Fletcher, Baya Ginn, Jack Graham, Ian Little, and Aiden Shrestha.

The E.T. Booth MS team, coached by media specialist Amanda Graves and teacher Katie Imbriano, is made up Demi Adekunle, Averie Allen, Aiden Antony, Samruddhi Bandyopadhyay, Adveek Banerjee, Jahnavi Bellamkonda, Rijo Beniston Raja, Lilah Bourgault, Joanna Chen, Boubacar Diallo, Eliza Goodloe, Meliyah Ivey, Rohnish Jena, Lily Jones, Kritaj Kode, Raquel Lopez-Calderon, Rishabh Pandya, Kara Shervington, Alice Terra de Freitas, David Tetteh, and Pranav Vasishta.

The competition, organized by CCSD Academics & Accountability, includes two divisions, elementary and middle school, and features questions from books selected by a CCSD committee of educators. 

The first-place teams will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis at an upcoming school board meeting.  High school reading bowl teams will compete at the annual statewide TOME Student Literacy Society reading bowl, as will some of CCSD’s elementary and middle school teams.
