Meet the New Principal: Dr. Jessica Porter of CCSD Preschool Centers!

Our Principals are dedicated leaders, and as we look forward to the first day of school on Aug. 1, we’re introducing you to our new Principals …

CCSD Preschool Centers Principal Dr. Jessica Porter brings knowledge to her new role of not only best practices in preschool education, but also what students need to know as they advance to higher grade levels.

A 33-year educator, Dr. Porter most recently served as an assistant principal of Holly Springs ES STEM Academy.  She began her education career as a preschool teacher and director before joining CCSD in 1998 as a Woodstock Elementary School teacher.

As a teacher there, Dr. Porter taught in the classroom and as an early intervention program educator before joining Woodstock Middle School as a Special Education and remedial education teacher.  She also served as a teacher on special assignment to support improving instruction districtwide.  She and her husband Chad have three girls, who attended CCSD schools.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
“I’m excited for the opportunity to help shape and support strong foundational experiences for CCSD’s youngest learners.  Early childhood is where a lifelong love of learning takes root, and I’m passionate about creating environments where children feel safe, supported, and experience continual growth.  One of the things I most enjoy is working alongside teachers, supporting instruction, and celebrating those everyday moments as students flourish.”

How will you elevate the excellence this school year?
“During the upcoming 2025–26 school year at the CCSD Preschool Centers, we’re committed to elevating excellence by fostering a culture where high expectations, collaboration, and continuous growth guide instruction.  Our focus is on intentional, developmentally appropriate practices that create classrooms rich in learning, highly engaging, and aligned with Georgia’s Early Learning Developmental Standards, providing students with the opportunity to flourish during their earliest school experiences.”

How can parents be more involved with your school?
“Parents and families can be involved by collaborating with teachers for classroom supports and needs, preparing materials, being guest readers, assisting during special events, and supporting learning at home.  In addition to individual involvement, we welcome partnership possibilities, such as connecting our school with local businesses, community helpers, and organizations that are willing to support with time, treasures, and talents.”
