School and District Leaders Learn and Prepare at Annual Symposium

School and District Leaders Learn and Prepare at Annual Symposium

Cherokee County School District leaders today kicked off the new school year with the annual Superintendent's Leadership Symposium professional development event.

The annual all-day workshop, held this year at Cherokee HS, is a time for school principals, assistant principals and district leaders to review changes to district operations, hear remarks from the Superintendent of Schools, and learn and network with a focus on growing as leaders and improving CCSD together.

Workshops throughout the day focused on new instructional resources and the Teacher Toolbox that will put resources at teachers' fingertips, changes in technology and human resources processes, overviews of school safety and school budgets-- which increased significantly with a School Board approved shift in funds from central office operations to the classroom. Leaders also spent time analyzing data dashboards to identify areas for improving learning for all students, as well as strategies on student attendance and support systems.

Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis gave closing remarks with an emphasis on the district's shared focus on student learning.  CCSD is laser focused on students learning more and achieving more and strives to be the best place for teachers to reach and leaders to lead.
